You can weld text that doesn’t have overlapping characters. Under Save as type select Inkscape SVG then click Save. You can save this as an SVG to use as a cut file. The characters are now combined into one object. Union is the same as Weld in other programs. Click on the text to select then go to Path > Union. Now click on the Select and transform objects tool, the black arrow top left. This way, we can see where lines will weld. Change the fill color to none and the stroke to black at the top. While in text edit mode, adjust the font using the Font Family top left. Once you have opened Inkscape, use the Text Tool on the left side toolbar to type out your text. Once welded, you won’t be able to edit the wording as it will now become an object. It should be noted that welding text should be done once you are certain you no longer want to edit the text. and a 10-key built in.You can use any script font of your choice or choose from our selection of modern script fonts. Has both left and right ctl and alt keys. Keyboard is set to English so keyboard mapping is normal. Using Fujitsu AH531 laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit w/16gb memory. Is there some other setting I'm missing that has to be done to manipulate the text, or does my computer have an intermittent problem? What I also notice is that the far three settings (horizontal kerning, vertical shift and character rotation) at the top bar are grayed out, and cannot be adjusted either. However, I seem to be unable to rotate the text, or set the kerning. If I highlight some text I can change all the spacing settings just fine. My text is set to 56 and I type in several words. I start with a new canvas and select the text tool. And for the life of me I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. It worked earlier today, but now not so much. One of the problems I'm having is trying to manipulate text. I'm new to Inkscape and have been using the book Inkscape Essentials to learn how to use the program.
